The Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of British Columbia (RMTBC) is the professional association for Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) in British Columbia and acts as a unified voice for RMTs across the province. Through media relations, advertising, publications, the web site and other activities, the RMTBC reaches out to the public, health care professionals, politicians and other stakeholders with its message that massage therapy is a vital partner in the delivery of health care services in BC.

Over 3500 of BC’s massage therapists belong to the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of British Columbia (RMTBC). With a strong membership, the association negotiates with Medical Services Plan, Insurance Corporation of BC, the WorkSafeBC, the BC Government and private insurers. The RMTBC also gathers evidence on the efficacy of massage therapy through research projects and the ongoing collection of massage therapy research articles. Other services include a member assistance program and practice resources.

Special Resolution - 2017

The new Societies Act came into effect on Nov. 28, 2016. In the two years following that date, every pre-existing society in BC is by legislation required to “transition” to the new Act. Whereas the directors of the Society have recommended that the Society be designated as a member-funded society upon Transition under the new Societies Act of British Columbia (the “New Act”). The membership of the RMTBC is asked to approve the following Special Resolution at the upcoming AGM, April 29th, 2017.
